Want to work with a team that does something worthwhile?

Our committed teams are proud to work together to Beat Macular Disease.

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with around 300 people diagnosed every day. The Macular Society is the only charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world class research, and the best advice and support.

To support people affected by macular disease now, the Macular Society provides a range of support, information and services. Our research programme is focused on finding new treatments and a cure to Beat Macular Disease forever.

About the role

This exciting role is responsible for generating income from a range of donors and prospects, with a particular focus on charitable trusts and foundations, lottery and statutory sources, and high-value donors. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help to grow and develop this vital area of fundraising for the Macular Society.

About you

We are looking for an ambitious and strategic fundraiser with a strong track record of securing significant funds from charitable trusts and foundations, lottery and statutory sources, and high-value donors. You will have excellent relationship management skills, a sharp eye for detail, an analytical mindset, and a natural flair for writing successful funding applications.

In return, we provide a great working culture – we do something worthwhile and are proud to work together to Beat Macular Disease – as recognised by our inclusion in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023 list.

We offer flexible working options, 26 days annual leave, rising to 27 after one years’ service, the ability to buy or sell annual leave, supportive family policies, and 6% pension contribution. To read about our benefits in more detail, see link below.

Macular Society are an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. A guaranteed interview will be offered to all disabled applicants where:

  • The candidate has evidenced the minimum criteria for the role through their application
  • The candidate has chosen to share that they have a disability in the covering letter/application email
  • Where the minimum (essential) criteria have been met, we will provide an opportunity to request any reasonable adjustments for the interview and/or the role.

We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer reflecting the community we serve and welcome applications from all parts of the community, in particular people with lived experience of sight loss.
